Singing in the New Season
Here we are at the start of a new season for the MC Singers. We leave behind another successful year of exciting musical events. This time last year we were preparing to sing at the National Trust, Canon's Ashby, as part of their Harvest celebrations. The Autumn continued with the baton being taken over by Heather Gledhill, whilst I served time with the NHS. There was the moving Armistice Concert, annual Carols for All and carol singing for the Golf Club.
2019 saw the choir returning to the Hymns for All format and at the request of the British Legion another venture into the world of wartime songs with the D Day Concert. Our final concert was our annual Supper and Songs at Cherwell Edge Golf Club.
Thank you to all the ongoing support from all members and friends. We have been especially pleased to welcome Kieron Galliard as our accompanist this year.
So what have you got to look forward to?
Our Autumn Concert (12th October) will include an ambitious attempt to discover the beauty of Vivaldi's Gloria. This is anew challenge, as we have not performed many classical choral works. The second half of the concert will be songs from complimentary musicals: Mary Poppins and Mary Poppins Returns followed by Barnum and The Greatest Showman.
I'm sorry to mention the dreaded word (NO not Brexit!!) Christmas, but it will soon be time for Annual Carol Sing-a-long (14th December).
Looking forward to seeing everyone at all of our events in the future.
